Winter Light

happy winter!

this photo was taken today on my first official winter hike. i  love the pinkish winter light and the stark shadows when walking through wooded areas in winter. i’m spending the week at richard’s; he happens to live across from a nature preserve. i know, how lucky could a gal get to have a boyfriend live right across the road from a nature preserve? i am very lucky indeed, in more ways than one.

i like having time off in the winter, it gives me time to appreciate nature in a very different way than in the warmer months; trees with their bare branches, covered in snow instead of leaves, frozen streams, and especially the quiet and stillness. it’s amazing to me how nature adapts to the changing seasons.

what do you appreciate about winter?

City Lights

hello,

this and the photo from the previous post were taken when i went with my daughter sierra on her senior trip to new york city. how exciting and fun it was for the both of us.

new york was so beautiful and has so much to offer. even though it seems like a dream now, i’m so glad i had the opportunity to visit and experience such a vibrant and exciting city. being from a rural area i thought i would find the city and people intimidating but nothing could be farther from the truth.

i think in general no matter where you go you will find that people are friendly as long as you approach new places and people with a spirit of kindness and respect.

whatever you give, you will get back.

peace,

julayne

Don’t Forget to Look Up

greetings!

i know it’s been ages since i’ve posted photos or written here. i could go on about my excuses for not being here but would rather write as to why i’m back. i’ve realized that this month when worlds collide is going into it’s 3rd year. it’s hard for me to believe that i’ve had the blog this long. for me, it’s been a great creative outlet for photography and my desire to write more.  photography comes very easy to me compared to the writing.

in an attempt to make some positive changes with the blog, i’m going to attempt to write about more personal things that are important to me: simple living and a vegan diet- including inspiration from the world peace diet. also, i would like to broaden my subjects in photography. i may throw in a few comments about books, film, and music too. another change in the blog is that i’ve invited someone to collaborate. richard and i met this past year. i think he’s a very good writer and am looking forward to his contributions.  i think he will have a very positive effect on the blog, just like the positive effect he has had on me.

love is grand.

peace,
