Clouds

hello!

lots of stormy clouds to look at around here lately. it was also hot and muggy too. i’m happy to report that today even though the clouds are still here, it’s much cooler. actually, it’s downright chilly! this is indiana after all.

now that school is out, i’m thinking about summer activities and one of those is a summer reading list. i think i will start with some short works by tolstoy. last summer i read knut hamsun and dostoyevsky and enjoyed them very much. jumping ahead a century and continents, i think anything by jack kerouac is a good summer read. i came across on the road; the original scroll at the library. kerouac typed the original manuscript single spaced and in one long sentence  and taped the ends of the pages together; all rolled up into one awesome, holy scroll. the beats bible.  i’ve read parts of it and i think it would be a great summer read; even better than the originally published version. classic american.

what is on your summer reading list?

peace & books,

greetings.

this is a photo from last winter (09). this approaching storm was very strong and knocked out our power for 16 hours.  there i was out in it.

don’t you love the barn roof? it’s practically luminous!

it’s been a quiet week around here with the kids gone. for spring break their dad has taken them with him on a trip to california. ah, to be young again. can you imagine what california must look like to 2 kids from oakville, indiana? my parents liked to travel so i was able to see a lot of the US as a child. then when i was married, i got to travel some more.  even as a child, i knew that i could only feel at home in a rural, open setting.

home: a place of personal solitude.

what is your definition of home?

peace,
